{A Room for a Princess}

Chad has been wanting me to re-do Ella’s room for awhile now. He was thinking pink and brown for colors and stripes on the walls. Just the thought of doing stripes on the wall was causing me to shake. I wasn’t putting off re-doing her room (although I still thought that it was cute the way it was) I was just trying to think of something really different that would last a little while so that I wasn’t painting again in 2 more years (but around here you never know).

Channa had given me these beautiful sheer curtains that she had used in her bedroom in Dallas and it all started from there. I decided one night that I would try and duplicate the pattern on the curtains and paint it in a huge pattern on the walls and what says 2 year old little girl than the colors Light Chiffon and Fairytale Pink?

It took about 3 days in painting and the help of my wonderful assistant mother and we got it done. I must say that it turned out exactly how I was envisioning it in my head for once and that was a wonderful feeling.

Ella says that she likes it – I’m not sure as much as mommy likes it but that’s okay with me. Maybe I’ll move in there. It’s mostly done, I still have to make some pillow shams and frame some pictures and get them up on the wall.

And now, the reveal….Ella’s Fairy Tale Room:

This dresser was my great-grandmothers. I used it growing up and Ella now has it. That frame was AWFUL creme and gold but nothing that a few coats of spray paint couldn’t fix. I glued the cork to a foam core board that I cut to fit the frame and now it’s a cork board that holds Ella’s artwork and school schedule. Pretty cute little cork board for $2.00. (I had the frame, cork scrap  and foam board – all I had to buy was 1 can of spray paint)

Same story…This was a gold metal frame ICK.  A couple of coats of spray paint, the rest of the foam board and 3 strips of leftover ribbon and now we have a place to put all of our bows…I just wish the frame would have been bigger – this doesn’t even begin to hold all of the bows she has.

  An old mirror that was pickled and ugly – spray paint to the rescue, now it matches the rest of the accessories.DSC_0013 copy

My mom “hid” a heart in the pattern. I didn’t notice it until the next day. I love that little touch.

The curtain sheers that started it all.

    You can kind of get the idea of the pattern here. I found the pink panels behind them at Wally World and they work perfectly and help to block out a little more light at naptime.

And like Candace Olson says, “How Devine”!

That is utterly amazing! Seriously. These pictures look like they were taken for that Home Make-Over show on TV.

When my daughter is old enough, will you come to my place and accomplish this same loveliness? :)
